Josephine Marie (Zigal) Bell lovingly known as Jody age, 96, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, in Friendswood, Texas.
Josephine was born May 27, 1928, to Alfons and Annie Zigal in West Point, Texas on the family farm.
She attended Rocky Ridge School in West Point, Texas and married Elmer (Mike) Bell on May 15, 1948, in Houston, Texas.
Jody was employed by Gordon's Jewler home office in Houston, Texas for 18 years, retiring in 1975. A later job took her to South Houston High School, where she was the lead cashier at The Snack Bar until May 1995.
Jody was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. She spent time with her siblings and their families, making frequent trips to Fayette County and New Braunfels, Texas engaging in family volleyball and holiday events. The Houston Astros were one of her favorite past times.
Jody is survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer (Mike) Bell, seven brothers: Adolph, Edward, Alfons Jr., Willie, Emil, Ernest and Eugene Zigal; two sisters: Vlasta Reiss and Olivia Hart. Jody was known for her kind, soft-spoken and sweet nature. She had an ongoing concern and love for her family.
A visitation will be held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with family present at this time to receive friends. A Holy Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum, Texas at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Father Wayne Wilkerson will be the presiding celebrant. Interment will follow mass at the La Grange City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery Fund.
