Josie Dodson Obituary

Ms. Josifae "Josie" Dodson, 78 of Dobson, NC previously of Collinsville, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Ms. Dodson was born January 28, 1947, in Surry County, NC to the late Raymith Earl Newman and Hazel Collins Newman. She was a retired bookkeeper who loved working with plants, flowers, gardening and feeding wildlife. She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist who loved music, particularly gospel. Ms. Dodson was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two daughters; Sheila Faye Gunter Marion and Melissa Lawson Stanley; three grandchildren, Brandon Wayne Marion (Misty) of Lowgap, NC, Kara Delaine Haskins (Michael Wiseman) and Tyler Andrew Oakes of Pilot Mountain, NC; two great grandsons, Mason Grant Marion and Easton Jax Marion of Lowgap, NC; two sisters and brother-in-law, Karen Sue Turner (Tom Jones), Vickie Lynn Wimbish (Johnny) of Mount Airy, NC; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Cliff "Chris" Cockerham of Orlando, FL; and her canine companion, Callie. In addition to her parents, Ms. Dodson was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia "Pat" Newman Nolen of Martinsville, VA and a son-in-law, Terry Wayne Marion of Mount Airy, NC. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Moody's Funeral Home in Mount Airy, NC with Pastor Randy Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 1:00 pm prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the home of Sheila Marion, 189 Muscle Car Lane, Mount Airy.
