Joyce Alene Cunningham, 88, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born on February 10, 1937, in Eros, to Roy Dale and Ider Price Cunningham. Joyce attended business school at Drury University and embarked on a long and fulfilling career in banking. She began her work at Bell Savings in downtown Springfield and remained a steadfast presence in customer service for an impressive 60 years. Although the bank changed ownership multiple times, Joyce's dedication never wavered, and she concluded her career with Cadence Bank.
Joyce was a member of Second Baptist Church in Springfield and lived her life with quiet faith, gracious hospitality, and a deep love for her family. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, entertaining, and traveling. She was a devoted fan of Cardinal baseball and Duke basketball and loved to share her enthusiasm with those around her. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She adored her nephews and nieces and found fulfillment in caring for those she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Gail Cunningham; a nephew and niece-in-law, Gary and Danette Methvin; and a nephew-in-law, Billy Keeter.
Joyce is survived by a sister, Jo Ella (Bob) Methvin of Eros; a nephew, Ransey (Patty) Methvin of Harrison; two nieces, Judy (Steve) Hobbs of Eros and Debra Keeter of Cotter; numerous great-nephews and great-nieces; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Patton Cemetery near Pyatt, with Bro. Aaron Lindsey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Patton Cemetery, c/o Cathy Jefferson, 8764 Highway 62 East, Harrison, Arkansas 72601.
