Joyce Schmidt Obituary
Joyce was united in marriage to Joseph B. Schmidt on February 15, 1958, a blessed union of 54 years before his passing in 2012.
Deeply devout in her Catholic faith and fiercely proud of her Irish heritage, she was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
Surviving are her children, Karen Fontanella, of Marietta, GA, Joseph Schmidt (Mary Margaret Krukonis) of New York Mills, Lori Gero (Scott), of Marietta GA, Susan Spiller (Richard), of Knoxville, TN, and Michael Schmidt (Sarah) of Schenectady; her cherished grandchildren, Samantha Urban, Stephanie and
Sydney Schmidt; Nicholas and Katherine Fontanella; Tommy, Annie, and Jack Gero; Brennan, Jalen, Molly, and Megan Spiller; Veronica and John Schmidt, and great-granddaughter, Seraphina Urban.
Joyce's family would like to thank Tatiana's Band of Angels, especially Jessica, Heaven, Lexi, and Melissa for their tireless dedication and care.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday, September 10th from 4 to 6 p.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Kowalczyk & Nunn Funeral Directors, 284 Main Street, New York Mills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 11th at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of the Rosary, Burrstone Road, New Hartford. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, Central New York Chapter, 5015 Campuswood Drive, Suite 102, East Syracuse, NY 13057 (www.alz.org). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
