Joyce (Riley) Townsend went to be with her Lord on October 7, 2025 at 3pm. She was born to the late Joe and Mae Riley on November 12, 1935. She was preceded in death by the love of her life--her husband Ralph, and her son Bruce who was her whole world. Also preceding her in death was her mother Nell Meinfelter, sisters--Mary (Snook) Gallagher (Dave), Virginia (Sity) Roush (Dewey), brothers-Bill Riley (Betty), Jack Riley (Nancy), and Bob Riley. Joyce had several nieces and nephews along with grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Her niece Debbie and her husband Sam were by her side every day until her passing. Her nephew Jeff was always a frequent visitor to her.
Joyce worked for Western/Southern Insurance for over 40 years. She was president of the Altrusa in the past and treasurer for Orchard Hill Church where she was a member for several years. Joyce was a sweet and generous person giving to any charity that asked. She loved decorating her home for every holiday. She enjoyed getting her hair done, going to Dollar Tree and planting lots of flowers. Most of all she loved her fur babies-Blackie and Scarlett.
Thank you to her special loving friend Hope Ballard, Barb Rader and Ann Salomone for all their prayers. Special neighbors Michelle and McKenna Hutchison and caregivers Debbie and Lola for a lot of hours over the past 4 years. A special thanks to Tammy at Hopewell Grove for special attention and sharing her Pepsi stash. Joyce will be missed but is no longer suffering. God gained an Angel.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon. Tuesday October 14, 2025 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Bruce Hines, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
An online memorial guestbook is available online at www.fawcett-palmer.com.
