Judith L. McBride-Swisher, 91, of Clearfield passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.
She was born on June 11, 1933 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Lawrence Lachat and Juanita (Rupert).
Mrs. Swisher was a hospice volunteer for over 30 years, having been one of the founding members of the 'Hospice - Circle of Friends'. She was a caregiver and babysat for numerous families in the area. She had also been employed at Clearfield Hospital with the snack bar. In her spare time, she enjoyed all kinds of crafts, including needlepoint.
She was born and raised of the Catholic faith but has most recently been attending the Presbyterian Church, Clearfield.
She is survived by her children, Connie McBride of Clearfield, Cindy Ott and husband Randy of Curwensville, and Dave McBride of Clearfield; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three sisters, Diane Schnars and husband Don of Clearfield, Joan Vitko and partner Dennis J. Flori of Johnstown, and Kathy West of Hagerstown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband, Braden 'Arch' McBride, and her second husband, William E. Swisher. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Lachat, and Lawrence 'Sonny' Lachet.
Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 12 PM with Judi Bookhamer officiating. Interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service at 12 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Circle of Friends of Hospice, 809 Turnpike Avenue, Clearfield, PA 16830; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
