Obituary of Kaitlin Marie Merrifield
Kaitlin Marie Merrifield
Age 17, of Morris, Illinois and formerly St. Cloud, Florida, passed suddenly, Tuesday evening, September 24, 2024.
She was born April 19, 2007 in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Kaitlin is the beloved daughter of April Schooley and Michael (Mindi) Merrifield; much loved sister of Tyler, Caleb and Wyatt; dearest granddaughter of Ken and Donna Schooley; Jerry and Jeannie Merrifield and the late Joyce Means. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Kaitlin had just recently moved to Morris and was eager to start her new job at the Jewel Grocery Store. She possessed many talents, including playing the clarinet and oboe, designing elaborate roblox homes, and personalized bracelets for friends and family alike.
She had an amazing spirit and gentle nature, this endeared her to people and animals alike. Her affinity to calm the loudest dog's bark, to her gentleness with wounded animals. There was not an animal on this planet that she didn't want to bring home. At the same time she was a fierce fighter for those she perceived as needing her warrior side.
Kaitlin's hobbies included gaming, her "stuffies", watching horror movies and anything mushrooms related. She loved to draw and create beauty, in life and art. She had a crafty soul and enjoyed teaching herself how to do different things.
Her family will miss her deeply, but will find strength in knowing Kaitlin's spirit will be with them in the coming days, months and years ahead.
Visitation for Kaitlin will be held Tuesday October 1, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 1201 W. Rt. 6 (at Deerpath Drive) in Morris. A prayer service will conclude the evening beginning at 8 p.m.
Cremation rites will be accorded following Kaitlin's services.
