Karen Lee Wegelin born October 12, 1944 in Akron, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord February 12th, 2025.
Karen was a fun-loving, spirited, friend to all—the kind of person who when she accepted a task would put her whole heart into it, loyal to the end. She was Basketball Homecoming Queen in 1962 at Central High. In earlier years she spent much of her time at Goodyear and worked as a computer programmer right out of high school until 2004. She also really enjoyed teaching Sunday school and could be found loving people and being God’s hands and feet alongside her community at Lakemore United Methodist Church.
She took an avid interest in decorating, especially for every holiday. Known for her creativity and craftiness, she would often make costumes for grandkids, wreaths, and Christmas trees. She enjoyed having a theme each year for Christmas, but the last few years she held tightly to the theme of “JOY,” Jesus, Others, You. If you looked closely enough, you could find a reminder of this theme in any corner of her house.
Karen was a wonderful host and would greet you with a smile any time you walked in her door. She opened her house to many family and friends when they needed a place to live. She was generous, ready to help any way she knew how and treated her neighbors like family.
She adored her husband and family more than anything, and she would often let them know. She’d laugh when you laughed, cry when you cried, and prayed for you when you needed it. She will be greatly missed, but we have comfort knowing she is face to face with Jesus, now living the fullest life.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Helen Glandorf, and brothers Jim, Bill, Leroy, and sister Margie Fulmer. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Robert of 43 years, twin brother Ken (Linda) Glandorf, brother John (Sandy) Glandorf, daughters Tammy (Charlie), Kim (Stan), Tara (Jeff), step-daughters Kris (Tim), and Kim (Greg). Blessed as a grand-mother to Ashley (Phil) Shearer, Alexis (Jake) Keener, Brock (Crystal) Justice, Lindsey (Dave) Puch, Abby Mace, Justin Perry, Faith Perry, Zach Mace, Matthew Kennedy, TJ Yochum, and Mike Yochum. Also the great-grandmother to Cali, Cole, Hadley, Everly, Hudson, Jayce, Hayden, Harper, and Owen. Also survived by close nieces and nephews Dan, Heather (Mark), David (Christine), Jen(Matt), Deborah (John), and Bryan, and many other close family and friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, the 16th of February from 2pm – 4 pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St. NW, Uniontown, OH 44685. Funeral service will begin at 4 pm. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Ohio Living Rockynol for their wonderful care.
