Kathleen Hattenhauer Obituary

Kathleen "Katie" Hattenhauer, age 70, of Des Plaines, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024 with her loving family by her side. She was born on February 11, 1954 in Chicago to the late Donald and Noreen (Chavoen) Redmond.
Katie loved her childhood spent growing up in Rolling Meadows and was a graduate of St. Colette School and Sacred Heart of Mary High School. She first attended Harper College and completed her bachelor's degree at Western Illinois University. She earned a master's degree from Northern Illinois University.
Katie was a dedicated teacher for more than 40 years at St. Colette School. Though she taught a variety of grades over the years, her very favorite was 3rd grade.
Katie was an incredible mother and proud grandmother. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed family vacations, especially to Florida, trips to the zoo, festivals, and shopping.
Katie is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, Robert "Bob" Hattenhauer; children Allison (Rich) Kelly and Bob (Diane) Hattenhauer; cherished grandchildren Logan, Bradley, Jacob, Reed, Noah, Amelia, Madelyn and Emily; sisters Maureen (Bob) Epperly and Mary Lu Redmond; nephews Matt and Ben (Becca) Epperly; stepmother Rosalie Redmond; lifelong best friend Kathy Maystadt and many more loving family members and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, October 7th from 4 pm to 8 pm at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services Ltd., 330 West Golf Road, Schaumburg, IL 60195. A funeral mass will take place at 10 am on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at St. Colette Catholic Church, 3900 Meadow Drive, Rolling Meadows, IL 60008. Interment private.
