Kathryn C. Ashbaugh, 88, of St. Petersburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 15, 2025 in the comfort of her home while in the company of her loving family.
Kathryn was born in Sligo on May 9, 1936. She was the daughter of the late William and Hilda Hackbarth Craig. She was a 1954 graduate of White Memorial High school in Knox. She was a long time active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Knox, and had served the church in many different capacities throughout the years. Kathryn enjoyed cross stitch, jig-saw puzzles, crypto quotes, and sudoku. She was a member of the former St. Petersburg Women's Club. Kathryn most especially enjoyed the company of her family. In her earlier years she was a book keeper for Emil Long Motors in Emlenton and was later employed for many years as a book keeper at Farmers National Bank in Emlenton.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Paul D. Ashbaugh, whom she married at St. Paul United Church of Christ on June 28, 1958. Also surviving are her children, Janet L. Dotterer, and her husband Glenn of Millheim, Gary P. Ashbaugh of St. Petersburg and Craig A. Ashbaugh and his wife, Rhonda of Emlenton; eight grandchildren, Jay E. Dotterer and his wife, Shanell, of Appomattox, VA, Ashley L. Morgan and Corey L. Dotterer, both of Williamsport, Kyle B. Ashbaugh and his fiancé, Megan, of Norfolk, VA, Ashley M. Messinger and her husband, Dan, of Virginia Beach, VA, Amy McKolanis and her husband, Robert of Dubois, Cameron M. Ashbaugh (Drew) of Monroeville and Ryan M. Ashbaugh and his wife, Ashley of Hilliards. Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces,nephews, cousins, brothers-in- law, and sisters-in-law.
Kathryn was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by 10 siblings. William, Marjorie, Dean, Charles, Ray, Earl, Vivian, Elaine, Jay, and Joanne.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 937 Twin Church Rd, Knox. A funeral service will follow from the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Tack, church pastor officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Union Cemetery.
