Kay McCormick, 81, died peacefully at home on December 2, 2024, surrounded by her family. Kay was born in Unionville, Missouri, to Max and Majorie Robinson. She grew up in North Kansas City and graduated from North Kansas City High School. Kay attended the University of Missouri and graduated with a teaching degree. She started her teaching career in Versailles, Missouri, where she met her husband Perry. She married Perry McCormick in 1969, and they had two daughters, Wendy McCormick and Terrilyn McCormick.
During her long teaching career, Kay taught in multiple Blue Springs School District schools, including Cordill Mason Elementary, Georgeff Baker Middle School, and Delta Woods. She also taught preschool at Our Lady of Presentation preschool for eight years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Marge Robinson, and her brother-in-law, Robert "Bobby" McCormick. She is survived by her husband, Perry McCormick; her daughters, Wendy and Terrilyn McCormick; her brother, Jim Robinson; her sister-in-laws, Marilyn McCormick, Sharon Banks, Tina McCormick, and Barb Robinson; her grandchildren, Tyne McCormick, Iyana Foster, Cy Wolfe, Oscar Wolfe, and Amos Wolfe; her nephew Zack Robinson and her niece Carrie Robinson, and her great-grandson, Greyson McCormick.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 1 at First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs (301 SW Woods Chapel Rd, Blue Springs, MO 64015). Visitation will be at 9 a.m., and the service will be at 10 a.m.
