Lubbock - In Loving Memory of Pat Harrison Thurman

August 20, 1926 - May 13, 2025

Pat Harrison Thurman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 98.

Born on August 20, 1926 in Jacksboro, Texas, Pat lived a full and meaningful life marked by service, generosity, and joy. He graduated from Lubbock High School and later earned a business degree from Texas Tech University, where he was a spirited cheerleader and played a role in the construction of Sneed Hall, leaving a legacy of both school pride and craftsmanship. He was also a member of Silver Key fraternity, later known as Phi Delta Theta.

Pat proudly served his country as a supply sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and returned to active duty during the Korean War. After his military service he began a successful career with Eastman Kodak as an equipment salesman. Following retirement, he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by founding Microimages, a microfiche developing company.

Deeply involved in his community, Pat served as President of St. Mary's Auxiliary, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a life long member of First Christian Church and an active Sunday School participant. He never met a stranger - his warmth, humor and genuine interest in others made him a friend to all. A talented and enthusiastic dancer, Pat brought joy to many with his moves on the dance floor. Pat was also an avid golfer and tennis player, known for his energy and enthusiasm in all things.

He married the love of his life, Ethel Blomquist, on August 24, 1956, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter and family.

Pat is survived by his daughter, Ingrid Simmons and husband, Gaylon; granddaughter Jennifer Johnston and husband Tom; great-grandchildren, Patric Johnston, William Johnston and Molly Johnston; and his great-great-grandson Jonah Johnston. His legacy of kindness, service and joy will live on through them.

A private family service will be held to celebrate Pat's remarkable life.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
