Kelly Josephine Nieland-Steven was born on May 31, 1980 in Lake City, Iowa. She was raised and attended school in Manson, Iowa participating in cheerleading, drill team, and track. Kelly graduated from Manson Northwest Webster High School in 1999. Following high school, she attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge for 2 years. Kelly then moved to Spencer where she began working for Hy-Vee in 2003 and remained there for over 20 years where she worked her way up to become the Human Resource Manager.
Kelly met the love of her life, David Steven, while working there. Kelly and David were blessed by having two daughters: Madison and Charlie. Kelly was a loving and dedicated mom to her two daughters. She attended all their activities and was often found volunteering at their schools and events. Kelly was a wonderful partner, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Kelly found great pleasure in photographing special moments with her loved ones. Kelly also enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities with her family. She loved spoiling her nieces and nephews.
Kelly passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Patrick and Della Nieland and Harold and Melva Pelz; her father-in-law, Bryan Steven; her uncles: Allen Nieland, Doug Nieland and Craig Johnson.
Left to cherish her memory is the love of her life, David Steven of Spencer; her daughters: Madison and Charlie; her parents, Craig and Nikki Nieland of Manson, IA; her mother-in-law, Jan Steven of Spencer, IA; her siblings: Jennifer (Russ) Nieland, LeAnn (Scott) Banwart, her twin, Kimberly (Justin) Smith and Mallory Nieland; her sister-in-law, Jodie (Ryan) Harms; her six nieces and four nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; other relatives and many friends including her HyVee family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic School in Spencer, Iowa.
