Greenville – Kenneth Carl Robert Howard, 90, passed away peacefully August 31, 2025, at his son's home in Whitefield with family by his side. He was born on March 18, 1935, in Greenville, the son of Carl E. and Audrey M. (Coro) Howard.

Kenneth was born and raised in Greenville, the oldest of seven children. He went to the Greenville School and started working at the age of 14. Ken enlisted in the Army in 1955 where he served for 3 years during the Korean War. He returned from the Army and married the love of his life, Phyllis L. (Tobey) Howard in 1959. Kenneth and Phyllis were married for 56 years, until she passed away in 2016.

Kenneth worked until this year at 90 years old. He worked many jobs including for Atlas Plywood, for the Town of Greenville, for the State of Maine Department of Transportation, and at the Lily Bay and Rockwood Transfer Stations. He had a passion for heavy equipment and loved fishing and his family. He will be remembered by many for making people laugh and having the gift of gab, including telling many tall tales. He was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and the Boston Celtics.

In addition to his loving wife, Phyllis, Kenneth was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Audrey; his aunt and uncle, who were a big part of his life, Howard "Dutchie" and Doris "Dot" Murray; his brothers Albert, Richard, Frankie and Terrance; and his sister Jacqueline Clukey. He is survived by his brother, Douglas Howard; his four children, Robert "Bo" Howard, Michael Howard and his wife, Carolyn, Murray Howard and his wife, Clarissa, and Laurie Howard; ten grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Gumpy", Ashley Quirion, Christopher Howard, Christine Mayer, Caryn Baranowski, Matthew Howard, Cathryn Peters, Mark Howard, Tiffany Stevens, Emily Howard, and Kenneth Howard; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A private committal service will be held in memory of Kenneth and Phyllis. Burial will be in the family lot in the Greenville Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
