Lanita Barton, 89, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Lanita was born January 16, 1935, in Amarillo, Tx to Arlie and Ruby Lee Maxwell. She was the middle child of five kids. She attended Amarillo High before marrying George Barton when she was 16 years old and enjoyed 50 years together. She raised two sons, George Barton Jr. and Ken Barton. She worked many years in the cafeteria services for the River Road school system.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bob Maxwell, brother Arlie Wayne Maxwell, sister Mary Lois White, husband George Barton and son George Barton Jr. "Georgie".
She is survived by her son Ken Barton and wife Carla of Amarillo, granddaughter Kenla Griggs of Cedar Park, Tx and granddaughter Amy Brewton and husband Eric Hussey of Amarillo. Her pride and joy were her great-grands; Sam, Sara, Reid, Leah, Brookln and Brittani.
She will be missed by many other friends and family.
