Mr. Larry Max Cox of Royston, GA, formerly of Gwinnett County, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.
Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Davis Cox; son, Jason (Jennifer) Cox; grandchildren, Jared, Justin and Kathryn Cox all of Royston. Larry is also survived by his brothers, Ricky Cox (Margarette) of Jersey, GA and Greg Cox (Lynn) of Canton, GA; sister, Connie Cox Littlefield (Rickey) of Rutledge, GA; sisters-in-law, Winnell Davis Akins and Merle Davis Stephens (Thomas) all of Dacula, GA; and brother-in-law, Jerry Davis (Candace) of Dacula, GA. Many beloved nieces and nephews also survive him.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Myrtle Cox; mother-in-law, Katie Davis; sister-in-law, Judy Davis Day; and brother-in-law, Barry Davis.
Larry was a loving and giving person, who unselfishly gave his time and talents to many causes and non-profits. He belonged to the Rotary Club of Madison County as well as the Cattlemen's Association of Madison County, Food to Kids, Chamber of Commerce, T J and Friends Cancer Foundation, and the Food Bank of Madison County. He was instrumental in implementing a scholarship program for high school seniors in Madison County, as well as a generous contributor to the fund. He was a mentor to Ila Elementary students to help improve their reading skills. He made a tremendous difference in the life of one young student that he mentored at the school.
Larry was a veteran of the United States Army, as well as a former Gwinnett County police officer in the 1970's. He worked at UPS for 27 years, working his way up from driver to Vice President of Telecommunications. Larry loved his farm and his cows as much as his family. Most days Larry could be found out on his tractor or feeding a new baby calf. Larry will be sorely missed by his close friends and farm buddies.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Madison County Food to Kids, PO Box 13, Danielsville, GA 30633 or TJ and Friends Foundation, Inc., PO Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635.
Funeral services for Mr. Cox will be held in the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until funeral hour on Tuesday.
