Laura Jean Wolf was born Nov 19, 1945 at Pyote Air Force Base in Pyote, TX.
The name Laura means "bay laurel plant". In ancient times, the laurel tree was a symbol of victory and honor.
She grew up in the nearby town of Wink, Texas. She loved being a Girl Scout and went to summer camp at Mitre Peak where she later worked as a counselor.
She was a junior high cheerleader and was popular and well liked. With a class ranking of 4th, she graduated from Wink high school in 1964. She participated in band, playing flute and piccolo, competing in band contests and was Band President. Playing tennis, she and a classmate made it to Regionals in their senior year. She was very involved in Student Council and a member of National Honor Society.
At Texas Tech, she attained her Psychology degree. Moving to Albuquerque, NM, she worked at Hogares, Inc. She served as a director and trainer of directors and counselors for group homes for troubled adolescents and their families. Hogares was one of the pioneer organizations for group homes in the U.S.
First and foremost, she was always an educator. In Albuquerque, she learned the Transcendental Meditation program and in 1976, became a TM teacher. With her clear mind and sharp intellect, she inspired and taught TM to over 400 people. She was Center Chairman of the TM program in Albuquerque NM and later moved to Lancaster, Massachusetts. There, she worked 15 yrs at the Maharishi Ayurveda Medical Center. Of course, she really shined as a patient educator.
Laura had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. At MIU in Fairfield, she attained her M.A. in the Science of Creative Intelligence and later was a Candidate for PH. D. in SCI with a focus of applying Maharishi's Vedic Science to continuing Education and interdisciplinary studies.
She spent the latter years of her life in Fairfield as a strong Coherence Creator, never missing a day of Dome participation, while gracefully living with Parkinson's for a decade.
She is very loved by all those who knew and worked with her everywhere. Here's something she wrote in a long letter to her father when he was ill. "Through my seeking, I have once again become victorious. I have arrived at the goal of my quest and have learned the true nature of life. I have learned that the battlefield of life is within us, the romance of the good and evil forces is our story within our Selves. Most importantly, I have learned that in the end, the good guys always win; good always triumphs over evil; the kingdom of Heaven that is within us is eventually realized. It's written in the script. So we are all destined to become the light of our true Self and become one with God."
Dear Laura, you gained friends and family everywhere as you inspired them with your life, well-lived. You will not be forgotten. We will miss you deeply and wish you a blissful continuation of your soul's journey to the highest as you have become the light of your true Self and one with God.
