LaVerne Costley Garrett, 91, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away September 10, 2025 after a long illness. LaVerne was born in Snellville, GA on May 1, 1934 to Alma Claudine and Ralph Arles Costley. LaVerne married the love of her life, Jack Garrett, on March 16, 1957 in Atlanta, GA. She had the honor of becoming an immediate mother to her sister LuAnne when they married and they later had their second daughter, Amy, in 1961. LaVerne loved traveling, especially to Western Europe, entertaining, sewing, square dancing, and volunteering at church and the Lawrenceville Co-Op. LaVerne is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Joe and Ellen Costley; sister and brother-in-law Sara Rappaport and Stoney Kelley; daughters and sons-in-law, LuAnne and Randy Duncan, Amy & Mike Hutchins; grandchildren, Mandy and Dustin Cochran, Wes and Kelly Cooper, Garrett and Emily Hutchins; and six great-grandchildren, Peyton, Avery, Ella, Annie, Tipton and Mia. LaVerne lived a Godly life and will be lovingly remembered as a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, Mimi and friend.
A Memorial Service Honoring the Life of LaVerne will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 2:00PM at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 18th from 12:30PM until the time of service at 2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, in memory of LaVerne, be sent to the Lawrenceville CO-OP Community Food Bank, 52 Gwinnett Drive, Suite C, Lawrenceville GA, 30046.
