Martha Newman Obituary

Martha Newman (née Yozawitz), age 97, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in Delray Beach, Florida. Born on September 16, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York, Martha lived a long and vibrant life defined by her unwavering devotion to family, enduring friendships, and a sharp wit that brought joy to all who knew her.

Martha was the beloved wife of the late Herbie Newman and the cherished mother of five children: the late Daniel Newman and his wife Francine, Shelley Giannina and her husband Michael, Eileen Wells, Mindy Paskow and her husband the late Robert Paskow, Mitchell Newman and his wife Jeanne. Her role as matriarch extended far beyond motherhood-she was a proud grandmother to twelve; the late Heather Newman, Jamie Newman, Robert Giannina, Kelle Giannina, Cory Giannina, Tracey Wells-Schneps, Jason Wells, Michele Wells, Ryan Paskow, Ross Paskow, Jacob Newman, and Julia Newman. As well as the doting great-grandmother to thirteen.

Though she endured the tragic losses of her husband, her son Daniel and her first grandchild Heather, Martha's strength and love continued to bind her family together through every season of life.

A woman of deep warmth and humor, Martha will be remembered for her linguistic wit that could light up any room and for her Aunt Lilly's spaghetti-a dish that became legendary to the family. Whether seated at the table for a spirited game of Mahjong or Canasta or curled up with a good book, Martha found joy in life's simple pleasures. Her home was always open, her heart always full.

To those who knew her best, Martha was more than just the center of attention-she was the heart of every gathering. Her laughter echoed through generations; her wisdom guided countless decisions; her love created a legacy that will endure in the lives she touched.

A Funeral will be held on September 3, 2025, at 01:00 PM at Mount Hebron Cemetery 130-04 Horace Harding Expressway.
