Herbert Christian Obituary

Herbert P. Christian, 86, of Ironton, passed away February 22, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Christian was born March 28, 1938, in Kitts Hill OH to the late Gerald Christian, Dorothy Salyers Christian Woolum and Donald Woolum.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Jean Christian and son Gerald Anthony Christian.
Herbert was a man of deep musical talent, a gifted guitarist, and a songwriter whose melodies will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He spent his career climbing telephone poles for Ohio Bell, later retiring from AT&T. He was also known for making the best apple pies, a tradition that brought joy to many.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Karen Pancake, of Ironton, OH, three sons; Herbert Christian, Chuck Christian, and James (Christina) Christian all of Ironton, OH. Two brothers Carl (Sheila) Woolum, Keith (Lori) Woolum, sister Alicia (Robert) Smith. Brother in law Jim "Butch" Williams, fifteen grandchildren and twenty seven Great-Grandchildren
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in his honor.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Coal Grove Nazarene Church with Rev. Jeff Canfield officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to service time at the church. Burial will be the following day at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, OH.
