It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lessie Celestine, who left us peacefully on October 29, 2024, at Acadian Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was 69 years old. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice, with burial to follow at St. Louis Cemetery, led by Reverend Tom McManus.
Born on August 2, 1955, to the late William Buster and Ella Mae Cormier Maher, Lessie was a vibrant spirit who devoted 26 years to her beloved job at the Coushatta Casino. While she worked in the maintenance department, her true passion lay in upholstery, where her creativity shone brightly. Outside of work, Lessie enjoyed crafting, often designing beautiful decorations for weddings and indulging in floral art, diamond painting, and coloring. She had a special love for crawfish, cooked in any style, and relished barbecued steaks enjoyed with family.
A person of warmth and humor, Lessie delighted in picking on those around her, always eager to share a good laugh. Her strong faith in the Lord brought her comfort and solace, enriching her life with joy and purpose. The greatest treasures in her life were undoubtedly her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.
Lessie is survived by her son, Lee Guidry of Redell; daughters, Tonya Guidry, Jelessica G. Fontenot and her husband, Jeff, and Sammi Jo Celestine Young and her husband, Aaron, all of Elton and a beloved sister, Alena White from Prairieville. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Brittany Guidry, Harley Guidry, Darren Chaumont, Jesslynn Fontenot, Jaylynn Fontenot, Jeramiah Fontenot, Jacklynn Fontenot, Jennylynn Fontenot Landon Celestine, Bryson Celestine, and her great-grandchild, Marcus Ceasar.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Buster "Billy" Maher.
In honor of Lessie's life, visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, October 31st, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and again on Friday, November 1st, from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
