Lester Cockrell Obituary
Lester was a loving Christian, husband, father, Pawpaw, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife Pat. He is survived by his children, David Cockrell and wife Robin, Cindy Chesser, Janet Antonini and husband Michael, Philip Cockrell and wife Esther, Donna Haas and husband Dwight, and Valarie Malkovich and husband Dusty. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Anthony and wife Joy, Jeremy, Josh and wife Jessica, Tara, Eric and wife Alyssa, Justin and wife Stephanie, Andrew and wife Hannah, Jessica and Emma as well as 13 great grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
Lester was born and raised in Houston, TX. He graduated from Reagan high school and attended the University of Houston. He met his wife while stationed in New Orleans with the Navy. They were married for 58 years and raised 6 children. He worked as a salesman in the paper industry for 30+ years traveling all over west Texas. Lester was a lifelong fan of the Houston Astros, Cougars, Oilers, Rockets and Texans.
Lester was a faithful servant of the Lord. He was always ready to help in any way needed. His love for the Lord was seen by all who knew him.

My first memory of Lester is vivid and warm. I remember sitting in the pews of our church and hymns filling the air. It was
during one of the Sunday services when I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder. I turned to see Lester, his kind smile lighting up his face, radiating warmth and welcome. With a friendly nod, he handed me a neatly folded slip of paper, which I eagerly accepted. On it were the details for a weekly breakfast gathering with some of the brothers from the Woodlands Church of Christ. His invitation felt like an open door to connect with our brothers. I could feel the warmth of Lester and the strong bond of brothers that was just waiting to embrace me. Willie Ray

I'm so sorry to hear of Lester's passing. He was such a good friend of our family and a father figure to many. He meant a lot to my parents. The whole family is in my prayers.
