Lettie Newell Obituary

A graveside service for Lettie Irene Newell, age 89 will be held Monday, January 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Pastor Charles Davis, Sr. officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. Irene Newell passed away peacefully from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Friday January 3, 2025, at her residence at North Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Services.
She was born on March 31, 1935. Irene was married to Richard Leroy Newell Sr. and had four children. She enjoyed cooking, growing beautiful flowers and working in the yard. She always put others before herself and was very giving.
She is survived by her three sons: Ricky Newell (Cathy Donald), Jeff Newell (Lesa), Gary Newell (Cheryl), all of Meridian; five grandchildren: Shea Gabriel, Gaye Gabriel, Ashlyn Palmer, Dalton Newell and Olivia Newell; five great grandchildren: Elliot, Falon, Creed, Kip and Hollis.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband Richard Leroy Newell Sr., her daughter Melinda McDaniel, two grandchildren Shea and Gaye Gabriel, her parents Luther and Ida Manasco, her siblings: Ernestine Upchurch, Christine Calvert, James Manasco and Clara Singley.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to all the employees at North Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Services for caring for "Lettie" for the past 6 ½ years, to her hairdresser Mary Pat Linton and to her wonderful doctors, Dr. Douglas Phillips, Dr. Mark Phillips and Dr. Michael Garbee.
