Lila Mae passed away Tuesday February 25, 2025, in Hartley, Iowa.
Lila Mae Viva Soden was born May 13, 1925, near Hoskins to George and Nettie (Vernoy) Reibold. She attended Wayne High School. Lila Mae married Dareld April 10, 1943, at the First Baptist Church in Wayne. The couple lived in Fremont before moving to Wayne in 1949. They operated the Central Meat Market on the main street in Wayne for 20 years. Over the following years, Lila Mae worked for Sears and Montgomery Ward Catalog Stores and then at Wayne State College as a custodian. In 1997, she moved to Hartley, Iowa to be near her son, Ken and his family. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, her flower gardens, playing pitch and crafts.
Lila Mae is survived by her sons, Ken (Lea) Soden of Hartley, IA, Dick (Bev) Soden of Wayne, and Keith (Gary Kleber) Soden of Palm Desert, CA; 9 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Grashorn of Fremont; brother, Jake Reibold of Omaha; sister-in-law, Peggy Reibold of Omaha; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Preceding Lila Mae in death were her parents; husband, Dareld in 1989; three brothers; five sisters; grandson, Dustin Soden; parents-in-law, Malcolm and Alice C. (Milligan) Soden and several in-laws.
Memorial funds in memory of Lila Mae will be designated at a future date.
