On Monday, December 30, 2024, Linda Jones, loving wife, mother, and sister, passed away at the age of 69. Linda was born on November 17, 1955 in Marion, Illinois to Frieda Mae (Frey) Webb and Alex Oland Frey.

Linda married Robert Jones in August, 1992 and they welcomed their son Brandon the following year. Linda has two older brothers, Alex (Skip) Frey and sister-in-law, Deborah living in the Cedar Lake area of Makanda, Illinois, and brother, Robert L. Frey, of Crainville, Illinois, and a younger sister, Lesa Hunt who resides in Florida. Linda spent her childhood and school-age years in Marion, Illinois and graduated from Marion High School. She worked as a pharmacy tech at Campbell’s Rexall Drugstore on Market Street in Marion until she began work in the cafeteria at the Marion Public School District until retirement. A very private woman, Linda was deeply devoted to her husband, Robert and her son, Brandon, and her extended family. Although she did not hunt or fish, she was always supportive and proud of her husband Robert’s passion for the outdoor sports. Linda adored their dogs and was a very loving “Mom” to all of them. Like her mother before her, she adored the Christmas season and invested many days acquiring the perfect gifts. With her cousins, nieces and nephews, she welcomed any events when the family got together. Linda also loved traveling to Disney World with her son and her cousin and dear friend, Angie. Linda had a very special relationship with her Aunt Linda Walker, after whom she was named, and her Aunt Carol Vincent. Her brother-in-law D.C. Jones, who lives in Arkansas, has been a good friend and very supportive of the family, traveling to be with them during Linda’s battle with cancer. Linda’s love and laughter touched the lives of everyone she encountered. It was quite normal for her to have great conversations with people, and she loved to laugh. Her brother and sister-in-law, Deb, loved to make her laugh when she was having a bad day. Her smile and love were testament to her remarkable ability to connect with people, share herself and evoke that same spirit of love in each person she knew.

Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Frieda Mae (Frey) Webb and her father Alex Oland Frey. Her extended family includes many cousins, nieces and nephews.

With deep respect for her wishes, a private memorial dinner will be held at a later date at the home of her brother Alex Frey and sister-in-law, Deborah Frey on a date to be determined. Because of her love for dogs, in Linda’s memory, please consider a donation to support organizations that care for rescued animals in your area.  With deep respect for her wishes, a private memorial dinner will be held at a later date at the home of her brother Alex Frey and sister-in-law, Deborah Frey on a date to be determined.
