WEAVERVILLE – Linda Willis McDaris, age 76, of Weaverville passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Mission Hospital.
Mrs. McDaris was born on August 23, 1948, in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. The joy of her life was in seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and celebrating them with gifts. She was very good with orchids and a fantastic cook. Linda enjoyed gardening, watching birds, and really enjoyed coffee. She liked working at the Waffle House to talk with folks and stay socially active. She was a member of Paint Fork Baptist Church, Mars Hill.
She was the daughter of the late William B. and Thelma Metcalf Willis, and was also preceded in death by sisters, Hazel Lee Willis, Margie Brock, Irene Griffin, Naomi McPeters, and Cheryl Rector; and brothers, Harold Willis, James Willis, and J.C. Willis.
Surviving is her husband of 55 years, Bruce McDaris; daughters, Lea Ann McDaris Clements and husband Robert, and Beth McDaris; sister, Juanita Buckner; grandchildren, Tim McDaris who was like a son and his partner Kayla Ballard, Ana Dockery and husband Ricky, Lauren Langford and partner Brent Ridings, and Felicia Haynes; and great grandchildren, Eli, Ava, Kannon Bruce, Isabella, Charlotte, Ricky, Violet, and Henry.
A private burial will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at a family cemetery in Yancey County.
