Gregory Robinson Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Modetz Funeral Home - Silverbell Chapel on Nov. 10, 2025.
Gregory John Robinson, a devoted husband, loving father, and master of all things mechanical, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was 56.
Greg leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 27 years, Monica (Plain) Robinson; his son, Branden Robinson (25); and his daughter, Jenna Robinson (22).
Born and raised in Portage, Michigan, Greg later moved to Canton, graduating from Plymouth Canton High School in 1987. He furthered his education at Michigan State University, earning a degree in engineering in 1991. This degree launched him into a long and distinguished career in the automotive industry, where he applied his sharp mind and technical expertise.
Greg was lovingly known as "Mr. Fix-it." He possessed a remarkable ability to find anything with an engine that was struggling and restore it to its full potential. He had a particular affection for riding lawn mowers, owning and meticulously maintaining several, and also restored multiple vintage cars to their original glory. His energy extended to home renovations, a hobby he also excelled at. The only time this hard-working man truly slowed down was for a quick rest-or "to rest his eyes"-from the comforts of the nearest Lazy Boy chair.
A man of few words, Greg's contributions were always meaningful, often imparting wisdom or, just as frequently, eliciting a hearty laugh. His unique brand of humor and ingenuity shined brightest when designing an arsenal of mini marshmallow blow guns, an invention that made one family Christmas a particularly fond and memorable occasion. His love language was acts of service, and he consistently showed his family and friends how much he cared through tireless work and selfless help. He shared a very special bond with his father, and they spent countless hours together working on projects right up until the end. Greg was dependable, patient, and would do anything for those he loved. He was truly one of a kind.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Robinson, and his father-in-law, James Plain.
In addition to his wife and children, Greg is survived by his father, John Robinson; his brother, Stephen (Kim) Robinson; his sister, Karen (Dan) Ondejko; his mother-in-law, Deb Plain; his brothers-in-law, Jeremy (Heather) Plain and Travis (Julie) Plain; 9 nieces and nephews, Kayla, Mackenzie (Daniel), Hailey, Nathan, Mason, Sadie, Weston, Kohen, and Gibson; and 1 great-niece, Adelynn. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated doctors and nurses at Beaumont Hospital for their many hours of hard work and compassionate care. Greg always appreciated people who worked hard, and the family knows those doctors and nurses truly earned his respect.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 – 7:00 p.m. at Modetz Funeral Home, 100 E. Silverbell Rd., Orion. The family will receive friends Friday 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
