Lois Allison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Myers Funeral Home - Middletown on Jul. 19, 2024.
Lois Eleanor (Bishop) Allison passed from this life Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at her home near Middletown, MO, at the age of 100 years and 3 days.
She was born July 14, 1924, at the family farm home one and one half miles east of Montgomery City, MO, the youngest of five children, to Harry Stanley and Eunice Alvia (Clement) Bishop. She graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1941. In 1943 Eleanor married Tech Sgt. Arthur Warren Allison, in Middletown, MO, while Arthur was home on furlough from military service. They were married in a double wedding ceremony at the Middletown Christian Church with Jack Lemasters and Evelyn Cohagen. Their first year and a half of married life was spent with Arthur in the Army in training as a Flight Officer. During this time they lived in Deming, NM; Salina, KS; and Denver, CO, before Arthur was sent overseas. While in Deming, Eleanor worked at the Post Exchange, and in Salina, she worked at the largest department store in Kansas as a store model and sales lady. After Arthur's return from the service in 1945, Eleanor spent many hours helping on the family farm working in the fields, besides her other wifely duties. They purchased a farm in 1954 near Middletown, built a new home in 1960 and she has resided in this home to this date. It was here, she opened her business in her home as Allison Double A Realty. She continued with real estate sales until retirement in 1974. At this time, she spent 23 winters in Florida after their retirement.
One of her many talents was teaching and singing in which she organized a choir and led it for 12 years at her church in Florida. She sang many specials at funerals. God blessed Eleanor with many talents and she shared them with others in teaching. She opened a ceramic shop in her home, Allison Double A Ceramics, in 1974 and was a 4-H project leader for 30 years, having received the Frank Graham award for her leadership. She taught four generations of children and was teaching at the time of her death. She was a faithful worker in her church, teaching various Sunday School classes for over 23 years. She was a member and past president of the Federated L'Etude Club Of Wellsville. And she organized and was president of the first PTA of the Middletown Elementary School. She gave to her community whatever was needed, sharing her many talents. She was a faithful exhibitor at the Montgomery County Fair having received many grand prize ribbons for her talents. She was a faithful vendor at the Old Threshers for 24 years. She taught macramé, ceramics, air brushing, and various techniques in ceramics. For her own enjoyment, she loved knitting, crocheting, wood carving, and oil painting. Her home was decorated with her artwork. She loved the Lord and His creation and enjoyed working in her garden and flowers and beautifying the Lord's creation. She was truly a lover of nature, spending much time in the woods, hunting and going fishing. In the later years, she loved working jigsaw puzzles, also. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family.
