Funeral service for Loranzo A. "L.A." Attaway, age 92 will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in the Richard N. Stanley, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Lewis Miller will officiate.
Mr. Attaway was born March 7, 1932, in Wrightsville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Paul H. Attaway, Sr. and Bessie Price Attaway. He was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Evonn Poole Attaway, and his siblings, Grace Attaway, Lansing Attaway, Wilbur Attaway, James Attaway, and Eugene Attaway. He served in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired machinist for Mohawk Industries. He loved country and gospel music. He was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman. When it came to his shooting, he was a deadeye. He was commonly known to others as the watermelon man. Mr. Attaway passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Fairview Park Hospital.
Mr. Attaway is survived by his loving wife, Roberta L. Attaway of Wrightsville; 3 stepdaughters, LaJune (Sammie) May of Surfside Beach, SC, Renee Day of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Andrea (Russ) Purvis of Dublin; a brother, Paul H. Attaway, Jr. of Wrightsville, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the funeral home.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
