Lowell Lamar Jessop, affectionately known as Jasper trucked his last road on Monday night the 30th of September. Lowell was born to Gerald Jessop and Alice Mae Cooper, April 22, 1948. He grew up in Millville, Utah and spent summers on a dry farm in the Pocatello Valley. In league with his brothers, he was well known for raising hell in Millville. He always bragged proudly about getting a DUI for riding a horse into a bar as a teenager to win a bet with his uncle.
He was drafted into the Vietnam War. He served his time stationed in Germany. His wife joined him there, and his oldest son was born on a military base there. He spoke frequently of his time over there. He always had a good story to tell. Later in life he and his wife settled in Wellsville, Utah and had four children together.
Lowell was a man whose hands were never idle. As a long-haul truck driver, he steered his way across the country. He also worked as a cement driver for different companies in Brigham city and Ogden, after his divorce he lived in Logan, Brigham City and Ogden. After many years behind the wheel, he retired.
Lowell moved to Montana to live with his oldest son Ken. In Stevensville he played a lot of golf. He worked in the yard and raised chickens. He enjoyed his time there. They moved to Kalispell Montana. After a couple of hard winters, he wanted to come home to Utah.
Lowell moved to Tremonton Utah, where he lived with his daughter Lorinda. Lowell was her rock. They golfed and fished. His grandsons had the pleasure of having Lowell in their home. Hearing fantastic stories and his funny sayings. They spent many hours playing cards, golfing and doing puzzles and gardening. Lowell loved to grow a garden and would sit and watch it grow. Many hours were spent laughing so hard tears ran down their faces. Lowell played a mean card game, was a pool shark, and an enthusiastic fisherman and golfer. He was also a master tinkerer. But Lowell's true legacy lies in his kindness and generosity. He was a loyal friend; he cherished his friends. They were family to him. Through the years he was blessed with many amazing friendships. He made friends everywhere he went. He was a generous soul who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to the less fortunate.
Lowell is survived by his children, Ken Jessop (Heidi), Jeremy Jessop (Rhonda), Lorinda Jessop, and Jenilyn Osterlin (Shane); his twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Gerald Earnest and Alice Mae. Also his siblings Sylvan, Shirley, Geraldine, Max, Colleen, Darnelle and Deloy.
We invite you to share your memories and photos of Lowell on his Remember Page. Whether it's a tale of his notorious poker games, a photo from one of his fishing trips, or simply a fond memory.
Lowell didn't want any fuss made for him. He hated funerals. He requested no services and always said just put my ashes in a cardboard box. The family will be granting his request, except the cardboard box part. Please share your memories of him here for his family to enjoy and remember this special individual. https://my.gather.app/remember/lowell-jessop
