Lynn Wright Obituary

Lynn Wright, 78, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on September 10th, 2024, at Veterans Affairs Hospital.
Born on September 8th, 1946, in San Luis Obispo, California. Lynn graduated from Quincy High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy. After his years of service, he went on to the police academy for his dream career and fulfilled many different roles and positions within the Salt Lake Police Department for 43 years and 9 months. He had a successful career working in various capacities at the police department between being a Patrolman, Detective, Metro Narcotics, Auto Theft, Vice Squad and back to Narcotics where he officially ended his career.
He met the love of his life in 1972. Lynn and Sandie then married on May 26th, 1978.
Lynn was known for his service, dedication, kindness, generosity and unpredictable sense of humor. He loved drawing and painting, watching war movies, taking naps at the movie theater and spending time with his family. He was very passionate about making sure people were taken care of, whether he literally gave the shirt off his back, or tipped the waiter extra money, he always gave more than he had. His love for others and his desire to serve is something that everyone will remember. He had a heart of gold.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandie Wright; his daughter, Lisa Worthen (Steve Worthen); his three granddaughters who he adored, Aubrey Janke (Nixin Janke), Alyssa and Amanda Worthen; and his two great grandchildren Navy and Krew Janke who he will miss dearly.
A grave side service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, at Camp Williams Veterans Cemetery, in Bluffdale, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Police Mutual Aid Association in Lynn's memory. Donations can be sent through Venmo @SLCPD-PMAA
Lynn's humility, generosity, dedication to serve, and love for protecting other people will be greatly missed and always remembered by all who knew him.
