Malcolm Miller Obituary

Opelousas--A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Malcolm Louis Miller on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Bill Miller will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial along with concelebrant Msgr. Keith DeRouen. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.

A visitation will be held in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church on April 5, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. A Rosary will prayed at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass at 10:30 a.m.

Malcolm, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at the Courtyard Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette, Louisiana. Born on July 3, 1929, in Cankton, Louisiana, Malcolm lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love.

As a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Malcolm served his country during the Korean Conflict, embodying the values of courage and commitment that characterize our nation’s finest. His lifelong career as a pharmacist began over 75 years ago, where he devoted himself to the health and well-being of his community. His contributions in the field of pharmacy were significant, earning him the respect and admiration of countless patients and colleagues alike.

Malcolm is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Joanna Miller, who resides in Lafayette, Louisiana. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children; Carl Miller (Linda) of Sunset, daughter Cindy Abide (Andrew) of Greenville, Mississippi, Tim Miller (Dana) of Lafayette, Fr. Bill Miller of Raymond, Louisiana, and Kurt Miller of Lumberton, Texas. His sister, Sylvia Miller Sibille of Lafayette, also remembers him fondly. Blessed with a large family, Malcolm was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren, the loving great-grandfather to 13 great-grandchildren, and a joyful great-great-grandfather to 1 great-great-grandchild.

Malcolm was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Miller, and sister, Gertrude Savoie. He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the deep love he had for his family and the joy he brought to their lives.
