Margaret "Maggie" Bonnema, 78 of New London, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church near New London. Visitation will be for one hour before the service. Interment will be in the Spicer City Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.
Margaret Marie Bonnema was born January 21, 1946 in Willmar, the daughter of Elmo and Melba (Gunderson) Wick. She was baptized in the West Norway Lake Lutheran parsonage in Sunburg. She married Charles Lindgren and they had one son together. Charles died in 1984 and she later married Mel Bonnema. He died in 2014. Maggie was employed as a cook in the Willmar school district, becoming head cook at the Willmar senior high school. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for family get-togethers. She enjoyed many trips to Laughlin and Las Vegas, with her husband and friends. She was a devoted mother to Chad and grandmother to Kendall, making them the center of her life.
She is survived by her son, Chad Lindgren; granddaughter, Kendall; companion, Jerry Johnson; siblings, Ellery (Jenny)Wick, Douglas Wick, Bruce Wick, Rosie (Steve) Shinnick, Karen Johnson, Julie (Bruce) Knutson, and Steve Wick. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Lindgren and Mel Bonnema; parents; brother, Paul and brother-in-law, Ron Johnson.
