Margaret Arleen (Merrill) Flateau 98 of Franklin, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday September 10, 2025, with her family by her side.

Affectionately called Arleen, she was born in Harrison Maine on May 29, 1927 to James Arnold Merrill and Margaret (Skillings) Merrill.

She was educated and graduated from Bridgeton Academy Class of 1945. She moved to Boston to work and soon met the late Ronald I. Flateau who became her husband, they were married on December 31, 1947. He was serving in the Navy and they moved around until they settled in Franklin in 1958 where they raised eight children.

Arleen worked many jobs while caring for her own children, she volunteered at church and worked for Fuller Box Co. while also helping others with their own children.

Arleen loved word games, reading, crocheting and bowling. She was also a great painter discovering her talent later in life.

She is predeceased by three of her children, Ronald M. Flateau, Wendy L. DiLuna and Beth Ong (Brian).

Arleen is survived by her remaining children, M. Scott Flateau (Sharon), Bonnie Parker (Barry), Linda Pasquarosa (Peter), Greg A. Flateau (Holly) and Terry Flateau (Lisa).

She also leaves behind 26 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, siblings, James Arnold, Jr, Ava Ramoy, and son in law, John DiLuna.

Arleen was the sister of the late Blanche Sawyer, Patsy Macleod, Jacqueline Cobb and Winnifred Lorden.

At Arleen's request services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to the Wendy L. (Flateau) DiLuna scholarship fund c/o St. Joseph's Parish Center 145 Holliston St. Medway, MA 02053.
