Margaret "Ann" Roberts, 87, of Washington, Illinois, formerly of Morganfield, KY, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke, IL. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Roberts.
On October 12, 1937, she was born in Union County Kentucky, a daughter of Clyde and Iva Berry. She married Larry Roberts on December 27,1959, in Morganfield, Kentucky.
Surviving are her son, Bret Davis-Roberts (husband of Lisa) of Fort Thomas, KY; daughter, Becky Hinrichs (wife of Brian) of Watseka, IL; grandchildren, Cole Davis-Roberts and Audrey Davis-Roberts. Also surviving are brothers, Johnny Berry, Dickie Berry and sisters, Janice Griggs, Marilyn Fenwick, and Jeanie Dilliard.
Ann was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed her dog, Wesley, Methodist Church activities, reading, and sharing stories with friends and family. She volunteered with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, at school activities, Kings Daughters, and many events with her Methodist Church.
A graduate of Murray State University, Ann had a long and impactful teaching career across various communities in Illinois, primarily in public elementary schools in Peoria. She was known for her thoughtfulness towards her students. In some years, the schools where she taught, outperformed magnet schools, a testament to her dedication and pride in her students' achievements.
A memorial service is scheduled for noon on November 11, 2024, at Evangelical Methodist Church in Washington, IL. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Ann was a member of The Bridge United Methodist Church in Washington, IL. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Bridge United Methodist Church at 401 Walnut Street, Washington, Illinois.
