Margaret Winchester, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026. Margaret is joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, David Winchester who preceded her in death.
Born on December 26, 1946 in
Cleveland, Ohio, to John and Margaret MacDougall, Margaret grew up surrounded by family and love in
Bay Village, OH. She met her husband, David when they were in high school and they married on January 4, 1969. Margaret was the beloved mother of Christopher (Regina Fitzpatrick), Megan (Peter Caradonna), Katie (Edward Wylonis), and Danny (Aileen Brabazon), and the proud grandmother of Maggie, Josie, John, Leo, Genevieve, Will, Caroline, Michael, Otis, and honorary granddaughter Lily. Margaret was a loving sister to Kathy O'Toole and Mary MacDougall, and was preceded in death by her brother John MacDougall and his wife, Elaine.
Margaret graduated from St. Elizabeth's Nursing School in Dayton, Ohio, and spent much of her 20s as an emergency room nurse, touching countless lives with her compassion and skill. Margaret left the nursing profession, but she continued to touch numerous lives through care and service. From teaching religious education and Pre-Cana programs, to cooking for soup kitchens, to opening her home and caring for four wonderful foster babies, Margaret was devoted to supporting her community.
Margaret was a creative and generous soul. She had a remarkable talent for interior design, turning houses into warm, welcoming homes. Her sense of style was always a step ahead, and her generosity knew no bounds-whether hosting festive Christmas Eve gatherings, intimate dinner parties, or her daughters' weddings, she made everyone feel like family. She nurtured friendships and relationships that spanned a lifetime, enriching the lives of those fortunate to know her.
Her passions included playing bridge, traveling, and creating joyful, memorable moments for those around her. As an adult, Margaret lived in Ohio, New York, Florida and Massachusetts. She left a lasting impression wherever she went.
Margaret's legacy is one of love, generosity, creativity, and unwavering devotion to family and community. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
