Maria Isabel Rodriguez also known as “Maritza”, went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 16, 2024. Maritza’s life began on July 11, 1990 in Brownsville, Texas where she resided until she was 6 months old. She then moved to Mexico for over a year where she remarkably gained a rich Mexican culture. Then after that, she arrived in Houston where she proudly called this place “home”.

Maria was a shining beacon of kindness and compassion, she touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. An extraordinary individual who embodied the spirit of love and peace. Her pure heart and calm demeanor made her a beloved wife, mother, and friend. As a woman of God, she was always led by her faith and belief in the Lord. Gifted with an ability to see the beauty in others, Maria was indeed a true blessing amongst us.

Maria was devoted to her soulmate Ricardo “Ricky” Rodriguez for 17 years. Their bond was a cornerstone of her life and a true reflection of her nurturing spirit. Maria's greatest joys came from her role as a mother to her cherished children: Kike, Ellie, Avy, and Zeke Rodriguez. The nurturing spirit also extended out to the family dogs: Lola and Grizzy. Each child is a testament of her love, dedication, and the warmth she infused into her family life. Her spirit always created a welcoming environment full of creativity, laughter, and support.

Maria was not only a wonderful wife and mother, she was also a daughter who brought great joy to her parents, Bill Cardenas and Nanci Cardenas, and Jose Cruz Valdez. Maria also loved the special relationship that she had with her in-laws, "Big" Jesse Rodriguez and Dolly Rodriguez. She shared her love with her siblings, Anthony Cardenas, Samantha Cardenas, Sarah Cardenas, Regina Ernst, Jose Cruz Valdez Jr., Melany Valdez, Elizabeth Valdez, Victoria Valdez, Joselyn Valdez, and Evelin Valdez, who were all touched by her kindness and grace. The love extended to her in-laws, PJ and Monique Martinez, Victor and Ericka Martinez, Jay and Erica Rodriguez, and Johnny Rodriguez and Celina Cisneros.

Maria's life was enriched by her close-knit extended family: Juanita Perez, Carmen Rivera, Joe and Maria Elena Cardenas, John and Irma Condon, Rosario Perez, Hugo and Irma Perez, Yolanda Horn, Damian and Maria Maraz, Luis and Alma Gomez, Josh and Hilda Angelle, Saul Perez, Juan Camacho, and many loving family members and a host of treasured friends. Their love will forever remember her as a beautiful and genuine soul.

Maria was a proud graduate of the University of Houston earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business in 2013. Even after this remarkable accomplishment, she chose to stay home to raise her children and forego her career. She embarked on the importance of raising her children in the ways of the Lord. This included dedicating her time in creating a beautiful home that expressed her talents in arts and crafts. In addition to her artistic endeavors, she cheered passionately for her kids' extra curriculum activities, embodying the enthusiasm and spirit that made her so special.

Maria is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Aquilino Perez, paternal grandfather Ismael Valdez, and her dear aunt, Amelia Aquilar.

Maria Isabel Rodriguez was many things—a faithful servant of the Lord, a loving wife, devoted mother, and a dedicated daughter. Her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will continue to inspire all who had the distinct honor of knowing her. As we gather to honor her remarkable life, we hold tight to the memories we shared, the lessons she taught us, and the love she bestowed upon us all. Maria will forever remain in our hearts.
