Mrs. Marianne Myers Adams, 81, of Prater Road, Lincolnton, went home to be with her
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 13 th at her residence.
Marianne, daughter of the late Milford and Mary Norman Myers, was a 1962 graduate of
Lincolnton High School and a longtime resident of Lincoln County and member of
Goshen Baptist Church, eventually becoming the pastor's wife in 1992. She taught
kindergarten in her younger adult life and later worked many years as a quality
controller at Oxford of Lincolnton and as a cashier at the Washington IGA before retiring
and spending her later years as a homemaker.
Marianne was the quintessential hostess and possessed exceptional culinary skills,
something she learned from her grandmother and mother, and in turn passed down to
her three children. She was also known for her sweet singing voice, having sung in
countless church services and special events. She was also tirelessly intentional in
sending greeting cards to everyone in her life on practically every occasion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert D. Adams. Survivors include
her three children, Karen Thombley and her husband Nick of Smithfield, VA, sons
Patrick Vandiver and his wife Dee of Tulsa OK, and Sidney Vandiver and his wife Micha
of Key Largo FL; Brother Ronnie Myers and his wife JoAnn of Abbeville, SC, Sisters
Norma Steele of Anderson SC, Myra Fisk and her husband Sandy of Sparta GA;
Grandchildren Martel Jackson, Tavarus Jackson, Dennis Larry, Madison Vandiver and
Kaiya Vandiver; Great grandchildren Hudson Jackson and Elana Kai Larry.
In her later years, Marianne found great joy and companionship with Tommy
Cunningham, whom she loved dearly. Tommy's sons Michael and wife Robin, son
Jared and daughter LizBeth, son Keith and wife Benton and daughter, Harper became a
wonderful bonus family that Marianne embraced as her own for the remainder of her
life.
The family will receive friends at Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton on Friday, October
24 th from 6-8p.m. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, October 25 th at 11 a.m. at
Goshen Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be
cousins Ernie Guthrie, Brian Beggs, Russ Gibbs, Steven Gibbs, Michael Cunningham
and Keith Cunningham, and nephews Chris Myers and Jonathan Myers.
