Martha "Marie" Hill (95) of Lubbock went to be with her Lord and Savior September 27, 2024. Marie joined her husband, Gerald O. Hill in Heaven on Friday afternoon. Marie was born on the family farm on July 21, 1929, to Bill and Clara Ferguson of Eula, Texas near Abilene. She graduated from Eula High School in 1947 and married Gerald O. Hill of Abilene in 1949. Marie was devoted to her family and cherished her children. She was an incredible cook and enjoyed baking pies and cakes for family, friends, and events at Monterey Baptist Church where she was a member for 65 years. Marie also enjoyed playing Bridge with different groups. She was a devoted Pink Lady Volunteer at Methodist Hospital for over 20 years. Marie and Gerald enjoyed taking their kids fishing, camping, and sleeping on cots under the stars at different state parks, watching kids play sports and teaching them how to water ski at Oak Creek Lake near Sweetwater. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed Texas Tech football and basketball games, the Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks, and Texas Rangers.
Marie leaves behind sons, Bruce Hill of Slaton, Dr. Jimmy Hill (Karen) of Lubbock; daughter, Sue Price (Gary) of Blooming Grove; grandchildren, Heather Claburn (Allen) of Ozona, Ty Hill (Jennifer) of Acworth, Georgia, Gary Lee Price of Henrietta, Elaine Futrell (Nathan) of Lubbock, Alex Hill (Macey) of La Crescenta, California; great-grandchildren, Braxten and Braden Claburn, Caty and Ally Hill, Clara and Julia Futrell and Elliott, Molly and Bonnie Hill; brothers, Bob Ferguson (Barb) of White Plains, Maryland and Ron Ferguson (Beverly) of Abilene and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald O. Hill, and brothers Jack and Harold "Hoot" Ferguson.
