Marie Roye Obituary

Services for Marie A. Roye, 80, of Rio Vista, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 3, 2024, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel with Reverend Alton Harwell officiating. Burial will follow in Rio Vista Cemetery. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Tim Poteet, Chris Watson, Monty McCoy, Justin Roye, Cody Roye, and Barry Simms. Honorary pallbearer is Glenn Copeland.

Marie passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in Grandview. Born on February 1, 1944, to Aubrey Earl Smith, Sr., and Edna Lee (Patterson) Smith, Marie was a loving wife, devoted homemaker, and a cherished member of her community. Marie married Leo D. Roye on November 11, 1961, in Blum, Texas, and together they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2023. She was deeply committed to her faith and actively participated in New Hope Baptist Church. Marie had a profound love for animals and embodied the true essence of a homemaker, known for her honesty, integrity, and warmth. In addition to her passion for cooking and birdwatching, Marie found joy in spending time with her family and friends. Her presence will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Marie’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved and inspired.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Wanda Harwell of Silsbee, Texas, and Wilma Roye, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leo; her parents, Aubrey, Sr., and Edna Smith; and her brother, Aubrey E. Smith, Jr.
