Marilyn June "PeeWee" (Teppert) McGaughey was born at home outside of Oshkosh, NE, on April 6, 1941, to John Clifton and Edith Leota (Garrick) Teppert. The Teppert family moved to Fort Morgan when she was 15. Marilyn graduated early from FMHS in 1958 at the age of 17. Due to Edith's early death, Marilyn helped finish raising her two youngest siblings, Julia and Richard.
Marilyn married Billy McGaughey in Fort Morgan on August 1, 1959. They had 3 children, Susan June Osburn, Terri Lynne (Steve) Way, and Shelly Kay (Dina O'toole) McGaughey, all of Brush, CO. Marilyn and Bill divorced in 1983 after being granted custody of their two grandchildren, Justin (Steven) Scrivener-Pierce and Amy Pierce.
In 1985, Marilyn met Rod Thim while out dancing, one of her favorite hobbies. In 1990, Marilyn joined her family with Rod and his two children, Rodney Alan Jr. (Pam) and Angela (Dave) Adams, and made their home outside of Brush.
Marilyn loved dancing, camping, and fishing. She cherished time with her family and children, reading, and her crocheting and cooking brought joy to many.
Marilyn worked as a cook with Brush School District and Brush Head Start for over 25 years, further displaying her ongoing love of children. To support her children, she worked various outside jobs, including Pony Express and Graham Upholstery and Cleaning.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill and Charles; a sister, Doris (Gene) Wiggins; a nephew, Steve Fincher; and Lani Teppert, and Tony Teppert.
She is survived by her husband Rod Thim; her children; grandchildren, Justin (Steven) Scrivener-Pierce, Amy Pierce, Travis Way, Shelby Way, Rod Thim III, Bryna Thim, Ben (Juliana) Adams, Rachel (Eric) Lawrence, Seth (Brialynn) Posey, Rachel (Roman) Adams, and Madalyn Posey; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Shirley Fincher, Larry Teppert, Julie (Herb) Norton, and Rich (BJ) Teppert; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, 12:00-4:00 PM at the Course, 2301 Mill Street, Brush, Colorado. All of Marilyn's friends and family are invited to attend.
