Mark is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Gilbert, siblings Vicci Barrett (Gary), Ginger Leser, Maureen Meyer (Fred), Rodney Leser (Kendra) and Beth Richmond (Jeff). He is predeceased by his parents, Rodney and Sue Ann Leser and his sister, Diane Leser.
Mark had a diverse set of skills, interests and talents. He was employed at the Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research at the University of Maryland as a Lab Services Manager where he repaired and maintained highly technical laboratory equipment. Mark was an excellent cook and a grill-master extraordinaire. No Super Bowl party or family get-together was complete without Mark's barbequed chicken wings. Mark loved being around the water, spending time at the beach with Cindy and family members and visiting Cobb Island where he spent many summers on the water as a child. He was a race car enthusiast who loved to compete in his blue 1967 Plymouth Barracuda at Maryland International Raceway at Budds Creek, winning many heats, trophies and cash prizes. Mark was a caring person, who loved all of his cats like children – each one was precious to him. He even cared for neighborhood strays, building them outside housing on his deck that included heat so they would stay warm.
