It is with heavy and sad hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, Mary Fowler, who passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2025, and is now with her family already in heaven.
Mary was a twin, born on November 25th, to parents Alfred and Eva Valerio and graduated from St. Mary's School, Corning East High, and CCC. She was a dedicated and loving nurse for 40 years at Corning Hospital and cared for hundreds of patients who remembered her for many years as a caring nurse. She loved her family and her community. Mary volunteered for many years at the Women of the Moose, where she held many official positions, the South Corning Fire Department, and the American Legion.
She leaves behind her loving daughters, Heather Fowler (Craig Radnitz) and Kelly Shaban (Mike); brother, Alfred Valerio; twin sister, Anne Valerio Pierce; sister, Hilda Valerio Lando (Tom); grandchildren: Eva and Zac Radnitz and Ashlynn Shaban; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by brothers, Donald and Arnold, and her sister, Jacqueline Valerio.
You could always spot Mary working at the Moose dinners, family sporting events, feeding the squirrels in the park, and having breakfast with former co-workers and friends. Mary will be missed, but she will stay in the hearts of many.
There will be a Prayer Service at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 25, 2025, to be followed by a celebration of her life at the Corning Moose from 1:00-3:00 pm; all of her family and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a local food pantry or a charity of your choice.
