Mary Ann Duke Freeman was born October 19, 1943 to the union of her parents, Baker Cicero Duke and Bernettie Barber Duke, and she passed away September 30, 2024 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia, LA. Mary Ann spent most of her life as a homemaker taking care of her husband and family. She always enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer and if you decided to play, she would tell you that you better win because you could not mess up her winning streak. As her health declined, she looked forward to her daily visit with her son, Mike, while they watched Let’s Make A Deal. Some of her favorite times was when her family would get together with her to visit. She didn't say much but she loved to listen to the stories and activities the others shared. She was a devoted member of Rosefield Baptist Church for many years. Mary Ann was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas Jerry Freeman, sisters Ollie Faye Howell and Dottie Mae Gibson, and brother Clifford Ray Duke. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Michael Freeman (Rebecca), Joey Freeman (Joanna); sister, Willie Duke Shields; granddaughters, Crystal Freeman Bassett (Hunter) and Heather Freeman Harris (Landon); and great grandsons Garrett Bassett, Judson Bassett, and Braydon Harris; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday October 5, 2024 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Bubba Tucker and Bro. Jack McKeithen officiating. . The Freeman Family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 AM. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Rosefield Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bruce Freeman, Billy Freeman, Hunter Bassett, John Jameson, Eric Hendry and Nicholas Flores.
Mary Ann left the following message to her family and friends, “When I am gone you can miss me, but be happy for me because I will be with the Lord”.
