Mary Fugate Obituary

Mary Jane Fugate, age 103, of Westminster, Maryland died on October 25, 2024 at Bridging Life Dove House in Westminster, Maryland. She was the wife of the late Lyle Fugate for 39 years before his death in 1979 and the beloved mother of William Fugate of Lake Linganore, MD, Katherine Myers of Milwaukee, WI, Doris Smith (Harold) of San Antonio, TX and Robert Fugate of Lake Linganore, MD. She was the cherished grandmother of Sharon Johnson, Tracy Fugate, Bridget Curtright (John) , Ernie Myers Jr. (Jennifer), Carl Fugate Jr. (Susan), Gina Winfield, DeeAnn Hansen (Tim) and the great-grandmother of Lily, Michael, Alex (Latoya), Zoey, Cody, Lyle (Megan), Kaitlyn (Camila), Aiden, Emilee (William) and Jake (Noemi). She was blessed with four great-great-grandchildren, Chaye, Rafael, Liam and Theodore. 

Mary Jane was born on April 11th, 1921 in Ellicott City, MD to the late Clarence and Fannie Corun. Mary met her husband, Lyle Fugate, while working at the drug store on Main Street in Ellicott City. They were later married on October 12th, 1940 and had five children. Mary was a homemaker. She belonged to the Church of the Open Door in Westminster, MD where she sang in the Super 60’s Choir group well into her 80’s. Mary loved spending time with her family, friends and church community. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, and one son, Carl Fugate and brothers, Albert and Paul Corun and sisters, Helen Kramer, Ruth Warfield and Ethel Dyson. 

Mary’s wishes for a private service will be held at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, MD.
