Mary Grady Obituary

Mary Anne Grady passed away peacefully after a long illness in Belmont, MA. Mary Anne (previously Hammond) was born in Boston, MA on May 8, 1942 - the daughter of the late Lawrence W. Grady and Janet (Carroll) Grady.
She leaves her beloved daughter Meg Grady and grandson Milo (East Boston, MA), her sister Margaret Mary Grady (Brighton, MA), her former husband David G. Hammond (Providence, RI) and seven cherished cousins and their families - John and Mary Kay Fleming (Milton, MA), Mary N. Fleming (Quincy, MA), J. Elliot and Carole Decker, Claudia and Robert Dubuque, Marita and Chris Zadina, Janine and John Harrison, and Lawrence and Hannah Decker, and their children.
Mary Anne was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Roxbury, MA ('60), Emmanuel College, Boston MA ('65) and earned a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Eastern Nazarene College, Quincy MA. She was loved wherever she worked, whether financial services at Bank of New England to higher education with Burdett and Quincy Colleges.
Her colorful disposition and spunk was magnetic, and she served as a positive influence to many around her, including her beloved students. She loved music and art as a long time patron of the BSO and MFA, Plymouth Philharmonic, and fashion, hosting great events in her home on Cooke Rd. Later in life she savored living by the ocean in Plymouth, MA and frequenting Sandys on the beach in her red jeep, stopping at Bramhalls for chunky monkey ice cream. Her energy challenged those half her age as she loved her gym days at Plymouth Fitness. Above all "Meme" as she was known loved her family and many dear friends, and her spirit will be greatly missed.
A remembrance shin dig as she would love- will be arranged in the Spring by the beach in Plymouth. Please spread a little kindness and cheer, and pay it forward to someone in need, in her memory.
