Mary Ishmael Obituary

Mary Lou Ishmael age 88 of Clinton Twp. Michigan passed away on October 21, 2024 in Shelby Twp. Michigan. She was born on September 19, 1936 to the late Albert and Mary Barr. She married Don Ishmael on August 9, 1958 he passed away July 8, 2023 after 65 years of marriage.
She had one Sister Donna who passed away on March 5, 2009.
Mary Lou grew up in Algonac and graduated from Algonac High School in 1954 where she enjoyed her days as a majorette, and where she met her future husband Don and Together, they created many friendships that lasted their entire lives.
Mary Lou loved her cottage "Ish Isle" on Harsens Island. She and Don hosted numerous summer and winter parties enjoyed by family and many dear friends, which lead to many of her pancake breakfasts the morning after.
Mary Lou retired from Utica Community Schools after 18 years as an Administrative Assistant at Heritage Junior High School.
In the fall Mary Lou and Don were fixtures at Stevenson High School Footballs games.
For many years, the winter months were spent on Indian Rocks Beach and Madeira Beach along with several of their close friends.
Mary Lou and Don also enjoyed spending time at the Casinos where Mary Lou could be found at the penny slots.
Mary Lou is survived by her children Don Ishmael (Debbi), Debbi Russell, Grandchildren Ryan Ishamel (Alicia) Garret Ishmael, Nicole Russell and Sean Russell. Great grandsons, Kevin Ishmael and Bradley Ishmael, And many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, with visitations from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2024
