Mary “Nell” Harmon passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family in Oakland, TN. She was 83 years old.
Nell worked as a dental assistant/receptionist then moved on to Harrison County Sheriffs Department operating the County Farm. She loved working in her yard growing all kinds of flowers and enjoying time with her children & grandchildren.
Nell was born on January 23, 1942 in Quitman County to the late Homer L. Winters & Della Mae Winters. In Addition to her parents, Nell is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Raymond Harmon Jr.; 3 sons, Raymond Harmon III, Danny Harmon, and Bob Harmon; granddaughter, Angelica Cassatta; grandson, John Marshall Harmon; and her 12 brothers and sisters.
Nell had many talents in her lifetime, including cooking, gardening, which she had a “Green Thumb”, and her home decorating. She was a Sunday School Teacher for the little ones and really enjoyed teaching them about Jesus. Nell was a member of Campground Baptist Church for many years. She worked for Harrison County Farm running their Petting Zoo, entertaining the children on field trips. Nell was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to so many. Her spirit lives on in all of us, and she will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Nell is survived by her loving daughter, Lee (Johnny) Harmon Cassatta of Oakland, TN; grandchildren, Sam (Sarah) Sparks, Yuvonda (Darrell) Ewing, Danny Harmon Jr, Johnny (Kelly) Cassatta, Jon Michael (Lauren) Cassatta, Colton (Devan) Harmon, Meghan (Josh) Peterson; 19 great grandchildren, Logan Sparks, Joaquin Sparks, Isaiah Sparks, Carlee Tubbs, Caitlyn Tubbs, Kane Harmon, Kree Harmon, Kord Harmon, Madi Cuevas, Kip Peterson, Ramsey Peterson, Sarah Ewing, Anna Ewing, Aaliyah Ewing, Emery Ewing, Kirby Ballard, Ryan Sparks, Hannah Ballard, and Josh Stokes; 2 great great grandchildren, Saylor Sparks, and Gersey Topps; daughter in law, Rhonda Harmon Ladner; brother, Bobby Earl Mann; brother in law, Ray Harmon; sister in law, Lou Wood. Nell also leaves behind to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 11:00 am from 1:00 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport (11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport). Her Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport. Graveside services will follow at Finley Cemetery in Gulfport.
Pallbearers for Nell’s service will be, Sam Sparks, Johnny Cassatta, Jon Michael Cassatta, Danny Harmon Jr, Colton Harmon, and Josh Peterson.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport is assisting the family.
