Mary Royster Obituary
She was the third child born to Russell Taylor and Mary Christine (Davis) Taylor on March 25, 1948. Her parents, one brother, Jerold Russell, and two sisters, Gloria Ruth and Elaine Anah, preceded her in death. The family called themselves "The Taylor Ten".
Rita is survived by four sisters: Cheryl Ann (Billy)Ugwuanyi, Gail Lynn Scott, both of Lafayette, Indiana, Trudy Eloise (James) Walton of Texas, and Janet Lee (Troy) Liggin of Indianapolis, Indiana. Rita has three sons and one daughter Kelley Alan (Sylvia) "Andrew, Ciera and Kyan" of Woodbridge, Virginia, Rodney Terrell "Mariah and Bria" of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Derek Anthony (Natasha) "Christian, Trinity, Christian, DJ" of Newport News, Virginia, and Lashell Phyllis "Shawn, Chris, Jackson and Chance, of Newport News, Virginia.
She graduated from Logansport High School in 1966, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampton University in 2001. Rita was employed at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia for 28 ½ years, working her way up from a secretary to a management analyst before retiring. Her most cherished memories involved 8 years spent in Germany traveling to the Black Forest, pizza in Italy, skiing in France, camping in Amsterdam,shopping in Belgium, Fostering 6 Children though 11 years, Cooking, Playing Cards and Crafts.
Those left to cherish her memories: 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friend/special cousin Danny Farrell.
