Mary Ellen Parker Webster, 92, our devoted mom, ma, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on January 17, 1932, in Midvale, Utah in her Grandmother Cowdell’s home on Wasatch Street, to Edward Hyrum Parker and Lottie Della (Rey) Ray. She was the oldest of ten children. While she was young her family lived in Corrine. From Corrine, they moved to Midvale, where Mom spent her childhood on 7th Avenue.

Mom held various positions throughout her life, always serving the public. She was employed by the US Café, in Midvale, where she was a preferred server by the customers. She also worked at Bern’s Superfoods in Midvale, where she made a lot of friends, and it was here that she met her future husband, Delbert. He was delivering flour to the store. Finally, she worked at the Cotton Shop in Murray and Sandy. We kids liked to joke with Mom that when she was working at Berns we had an ample supply of food and when she went to work at the Cotton Shop, the food dwindled, but the material piled up.

Mary and Delbert were married February 16,1956 in the Old Rock Church in West Jordan, Utah. They were later sealed to their family in 1973.

Mom and Dad began their life together in a two-bedroom in Midvale and as their family grew, they moved to her current residence in Sandy. Her house and yard were her pride and joy, after her children and grandchildren. When she couldn’t get outside to take care of her yard and flowers, it was hard on her.

Mary served in many positions within the LDS church. She taught primary, was active in her relief society, and loved to go visiting teaching. She also looked forward to receiving visitors in her home where they visited for hours.

After Mary retired, she joined a “craft class” with her mom. They would meet each month, make a craft, share ideas, visit, and enjoy amazing food. Mom enjoyed making the crafts and giving them to her family. At times things went unfinished, always with good intentions.

Mary was a talented lady who loved spending time with family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

Our family would like to thank Rachelle Harris, who came in and provided Mom loving care during the week, even though Mom told her family “Oh hell, I don’t need help. I can do it myself.” There will be no more “shiny hinnies”. If something needed to be done, Rachelle was right there to help.

Our family would also like to thank AMG and Inspiration for their tender care of Mom these last few months and especially the last four days.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Linda, parents, four brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her son Daniel (Marti) Webster, daughters Charlotte Nogales, Sherrie Perea, Shelly (Mike) Lloyd, two sisters, Colleen Parker and Nancy Hatt, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 4, at 11:00 am at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Midvale, Utah. Viewings will be, held on Thursday, October 3 in the evening from 6:00-8:00 pm and Friday, October 4 from 10:00 - 10:45am. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, Utah.
